Based on Brian Selznick’s novel, Wonderstruck (2017) follows the story of two deaf children, from different times, linked to a mystery waiting to be resolved. The film takes place in 1927 and 1977. In the past, Rose flew from her home in New Jersey to find her idol Lillian Mayhew. In 1977, Ben also flew to New York after his mother’s death, in search of his missing father. Ben and Rose are two children from two different epochs, who secretly want their life to be different. Ben is waiting for the father he never knew, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life records her in an album. When Ben discovers an intriguing clue in his home, and Rose reads an unusual title in the paper, both children start looking for what is missing, which is carried out with fascinating symmetry.
