Based on Derf Backderf’s highly acclaimed novel, the film is based on the real-life experiences of Derf Backderf, a friend and classmate of Jeffrey Dahmer, one of the most famous serial killers of all time.
The action lies in a strange world of the 1970s, where the future serial killer is a troubled teenager who slowly descends into the dark while struggling with a difficult family life.
Before Jeffrey Dahmer became one of the most dangerous criminals in history, he was a shy, lonely boy who did not fit very well. During high school, Jeff becomes an alcoholic, and soon his inner demons begin to manifest and his psychic problems develop and become obvious.
Performing terrible experiments in an improvised lab, Jeff was invisible to most. That until his increasingly bizarre behaviour has unexpectedly attracted attention. The film captures a nuanced touch of mental illness, the inherent desire for human interaction and the dangers of duplicity friendship, following Dahmer’s way of being a killer, and also devoting himself to cannibalism and necrophilia.
