The super cheering brothers Mike (Adam Devine) and Dave (Zac Efron) give an online ad to find their perfect partners (Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza) for their sister’s Hawaiian wedding. Although they dream of a mad escapade, the boys are nodded and exhausted by the uncontrollable duo.
Mike and Dave Stangle are young, adventurous, entertaining and, as some say, unhappy. These “some” would include other members of the Stangle family. So when their sister Jeanie announces marriage, the family organizes an intervention asking Mike and Dave to partner. Affordable partners!
The reason for the organization of the intervention is revealed by rapid flashbacks that remind the shenanigans of boys over the years at the Stangle family meetings. Everyone feels good, things are going as they are on the road, but then Mike and Dave come unaccompanied, get drunk, give up to girls, act like idiots and spoil the party. Therefore, partner!
To meet the family request, Mike and Dave are turning to the best source of decent, respectable girls that come to mind: Craigslist. They give an ad where they promise selected partners a trip to Hawaii with all the expenses paid and the opportunity to participate in all the Stangle family activities related to the wedding.
The ad gets viral, and the answer is so overwhelming that Mike and Dave have no choice but to organize a selection process for the candidate. They meet cute girls with lazy faces, strange faces, paranoid girls, with active girls, with twin girls who look like boys with girls who are boys.
The partners they had not met were Tatiana and Alice. They are looking for the two brothers, and they are enrapturing them to declare them winners and to choose their wedding partner. Weddings – and Mike and Dave – will never be the same again.
