Director Nicole van Kilsdonk brings to life the story of war written by the Danish novelist Joke van Leeuwen as seen through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl. In a charming town in a particular country, Toda spends her spare time doing sweets with her dad, a confectioner. When the conflict breaks out between “Some” and “The Others”, her father must go to war, leaving Toda in the care of her grandmother. As the city becomes a war zone, Todea’s grandmother arranges for the girl to secretly cross the border and go to the neighboring country where her mother lives. Toda must rely on his own resources and his own intuition to navigate through the various dangers that accompany him at every turn.
